The Horse n' Pony projectis a friendship formatted group that meets monthly. We meet either the 3rd Tuesday, or a Saturday for event prep and practice,
We invite all levels of interest in Horses and Horsemanship. Kids may participate on one or two levels:
Monthly Project Meetings/ field trips
Riding days /Equine events/shows (and learning/schooling shows). Kids that ride DO need to attend project meetings. Some kids own horses, some kids lease horses, and some kids just love horses. Equine Project members must be 9 years of age by January1, 2014.
Shows/Events are organized by 4-H kids & 4-H leaders across the county, see column to our right.......
Want to Join our Planning committee? The San Diego County 4-H Horse Advisory Committee. You don't need to be, but we are a part of this too!
This 4-H committee operates much like a 4-H club, kids lead, adults mentor.
This is great start in leadership experience for all youth. There is always a welcome spot available to new interest.
Youth helpers are welcome. We always invite & welcome youth members to show up, watch & help. Horse show ribbon runners, judge card helpers, gate monitors, office help & more.
So if you want to be around horses, there's lots cool horse stuff to do! We also have on-foot events for non-riders. Each event varies, so look for details!
*If you do not have time to be an event helper/planner, we totally understand!
Kids in 4-H often get invited to other club's organized equine events at a discounted rate. Sometimes we show on a separate 4-H performance card. We have been invited to Fundraiser shows, Valley Center clinics/shows, Ramona Wow Trail Challenges, Fallbrook Rider's events, and many others.
We keep members up to date via email newsletters as the schedules develop.
The choice for members to be on a educational basis or a riding basis, or both, is up to members and their families. There are many opportunities with the San Dieguito 4-H Horse Project. We can help you with all of the details and choices, just ask.
Happy Trails & Happy Rails! See you soon! Geanna Schmidt, Terri Garcia,
